'Battery low' warning for remote key

Lately my car warns me that the battery is low on the keyless remote. I have keyless access. I know how to get the metal key of of its little hidden spot if needed, but would prefer to replace the battery early. At the very least, check its voltage!
Anybody have a how-to on replacing the key's battery? I did a little search and only got hits for doing it on an E53.

Take the key out and use it to prise off the battery cover on the back of the key. It takes a cr2032 battery

Simple and standard, eh? After seeing the soldering and gluing required for en E53, that's welcome simplicity. Maybe BMW got too many earfuls from E53 owners.
Thanks

Had problems with mine recently and it was only after a little research i found that if you have comfort access the battery doesnt charge when the keys in the slot.
Think all the glueing and soldering is for the rechargeable keys.
Was pleasantly simple to sort out but will now keep a couple of the batterys around.

That makes sense. Keyless access has no metallic contact even if stow it in its dashboard slot, so it could only charge by induction. Doubt it does that...but that would be cool.
It took me all of 45 seconds to check the battery once I learned it's OK to prise on the back. Sure enough, it was at 2.8v which is a tad low.
