So my wife cooked the E39 528i for the second time.  And after a rebuild last year another 2K seems a bit steep to keep her going - so have decided to buy a used X5 E53.

I have found a used X5 E53 3.0d Sport through a BMW dealer with 74k on the clock FBMWSH.  £10500 with a full BMW warranty.

Is this overpriced or am i getting a good (as You can get via main dealer) deal?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi,

To give you a rough idea...

I bought mine recently, also a 2005 (55) with all the toys, 3.0d auto. I got £500 off so paid £7,500.

However, mine had 121K on the clock, and bought from a back street garage with a questionable 3 month warranty. It is in superb condition throughout though.

Based on that, I would say £10,500 for yours from a BMW dealer with full warranty - how long is this? - with that mileage, its not too bad.

But I would definitely do a bit of haggling. I think they'll be expecting £10,000.

Hope that helps.

That's one hell of a deal from a main dealer. I've seen similar recently for up to £13,500 (advertised) so £3k less should be snapped up.

That always assumes it's not a poverty spec manual in some horrible colour combination; Turquoise with Saddle Leather, that no one in their right mind would buy.

Yes it is a main BMW dealer!  However they can't deliver for at least 10 days due to number plate transfer (they only told me this after taking the deposit.  I have also seen a 2004 3.0 d sport all good extras sunroof sports pack comms pack black lovely car with 45k on the clock and two owners.  FBMSH too...

Which would you go for.  I can get a lapsed BMW warranty on this for £890 and he wants 11k for it...

Lovely to get feedback from people who know these cars...

Before I bought mine I saw a lot of rubbish for sale around £10500 at back street dealers and some non franchised dealers, so the price is about right for excellent condition. I paid £9k for mine with 2 owners and FBMWSH and 89k miles it's good but not great. A few scratches etc but seems a good used car with new michelins all round and I'm happy with it, I went private in the end but bought from someone who for bmw and had x5's for years

I'd check out that milage carefully, in my search for an X5 I came across quite a few examples which had obviously been clocked, even ones with full history, at 45k the interior should look reasonably new, the side bolsters on the drivers seat gives a good indication.
