Wheel part number: BMW 36116772247

Rear alloy wheels: 19x10" ET53
Wheel part number: BMW 36116772248

tyres are Vredestein Wintrac Extreme,
Fronts 255/50/19 tread depth 6.75mm
Rears 285/45/19 tread depth 6.99mm

Theyre good tyres for sure but if you are looking for winter performance (as opposed to a spare set for the winter to keep the summer set clean0 then they should be a deeper profile and smaller wheel (like a 17 inch)

Horses for courses, depends what  buyer needs/wants/expects from a set of winter wheels/tyres

I might agree if we were talking deep snow for weeks on end but the fact is that isn't the case in this country.

I fit these wheels when the temperature drops below 7 degrees on a consistent basis and you can tell the difference. That said I have used them in falling and lying snow last winter and although it only lasted a day or so they were absolutely fine.

The 17" wheels look lost on the X5, these less so and even better with the H&R spacers fitted.  I need the space but if not sold I'll keep them a little longer and put them on fleabay in the Autumn.

Not wanting to derail the thread as they are nice wheels and no doubt perform much better in the cold wintry conditions than summer tyres,  but it really is horses for courses - the BMW recommended 17" winter wheel setup does not look "lost" in my opinion - big wheels don't look all that great when a car is lying upside down in a ditch, either.    Hope they sell quickly for you though,  they are still better than normal summer wheels in winter conditions.

My understanding is the recommended size is 255/50/19 all round on the E70, so its not as if these are massively  bigger 30mm in width on rear tyres only.

PS can't remember the last time I saw an X5 upside down in a ditch whether on winters or summers  ;)

Like you say horses for courses

Actually I've just checked BMW website and for the E70 X5 the option is shown below

Hi thought that the vredestein Xtreme tyres were some of the best winter tyres around , the last time I saw an X5 on 17" it looked ridiculous , most of the E70 can't run 17" as the discs are too big , BMW dealers don't even list them for an E70 they were only available for the E53 & they won't fit due to different pcd of 74.1 against 72.6 on the E53 .
Goodluck with the sale & hopefully no one else tries to wreck your sale !

No one tried to "wreck" the sale, just take issue with the "statement" that X5's look "ridiculous" on 17" wheels, as they don't.  On E53 X5's (apart from the V8 models which use 18" as OEM winter wheels) ,  they are the recommended winter setup.    Appreciate E70 may be different.  Vredestein make great winter tyres as well as summers, they will no doubt be a good buy for someone.
Oh, and X5's don't look great upside down in a ditch in winter (which is when I saw one upside down ) however fantastic and huge the wheels are.      OPs wheels are very nice for someone in the market for them, however, which I stated, as well as GLWTS.

In an attempt to be the mediator I have just bought a set of in betweens -  18's with winter tyres - for my E53 Le Mans...... a step down from the 20's on there at the moment, but to be honest, when they go on, the likelyhood is that we will go to work in it when it is dark, park it up for the day, come home in the dark and usually in salty, dirty, cold, snowy, wet, mud ridden roads.....my 20's will be tucked up in a blanket in the garage  :)

I think the purchasing of a winter set up is worthwhile, what you choose should be influenced by correct sizes as I am sure the insurance company may have a say otherwise.

Good luck on the sale of these  :alkashi:

Agreed that a set is worth it.... :ok:  I've got a set of 19" for my X6.

Good point about insurance too.  My insurers insisted that I only use the OEM wheel & tyre sizes supplied by BMW for the X6 and nothing else.  I might have fitted 18" but not without their approval.  Hence having the 19" type shod with Pirelli Scorpion '*' type Ice & Snow RFTs.
