My car is going into the garage....

yup you read it right..
I am sending it in for someone else to do something...

Why...
Because whilst stood at the back drivers side door getting stuff out someone driving past at approx 25 mph got too close..
Their passenger mirror hit me on my back then clouted the door became detatched and flew into my neighbours car.
Luckily was a glancing blow and I think i got away with it lightly.
Slightly sore but hopefully nothing major..
(may have to get it checked to be safe..)

Has bent the rear lip of the door out by about 5 mm for a length of approx 300 mm
And now in hands of insurers..
looks like the top shut line is not even along its length either but might be dirt!!

Not overly impressed but could have been lots worse.
What galled me even more is they reaconed it was my fault..
Car was stationary, I was out of it with the keys in my pocket (there fore it was engine off and in park) getting stuff off back seat outside my house...

They claimed as there was traffic they couldn't stop..
Strange how thousands of other cars, lorries, bikes etc have managed to negotiate traffic like that!!
Still my insurers seem to agree with my views on that...
Have given all details, have photos and reported it.
Got to pop into police station tomorrow to fill out report and get appropriate number

Then to cap it off when my daughter stepped in because they seemed to have forgotten they actually hit my they told her to stop being a stupid rude girl...
If i'd heard that i would have seriously popped big time...

ho humm

Just not your year is it.... :'(

What is it the Highway Code says?  "Proceed only when it is safe to do so and adjust your speed for the conditions taking other road users into account."  There is just no way they should have been that close to you at all, or unable to stop in time.

Hope you're ok buddy - idiots like that you can never reason with. Not even worth it...

Get checked out to be safe and besides if it's gonna require physio you can claim on his insurance. Car mean nowt, you're good that's all that matters.

Hope you get it back soon!

Thanks all.
Back appears ok.

Spoke to police this morning and they summed it up..
My car was stationary and they weren't
Showed photos etc and officer said " why didnt they stop??  Its not your fault."

Insurance solicitors already on board to claim back expenses, car to be booked in and await courtesy car..

Sorry to hear the news about you and your car.

However as you have got your car well on the way to be sorted but have you got yourself check out after the car caught you on the back as they can be troublesome later ?

Hope it all pans out for you, as a wise man once said "never argue with idiots, they'll drag you down to there level, then beat you with experience"

Nasty stuff, getting hit at speed like that would certainly give you a nasty bruise at least.

Hope your insurance renewal is not any time soon as whilst there is an open case they hike your premium (loss of no claim).

Just going through this with my mother in laws car that was hit in a car park (whilst parked) with the other driver not stopping and hitting another car in the process. Witnesses available etc, but still you have to cough up your own risk and wait to get your money back at the end of the process.

I think I got away lightly with it
Just a small bruise which has all but gone now.

Had insurance assessor look over it and think they can straighten it out..  Not convinced myself but will wait and see..

Got home to a letter through from the police requesting formal statement (extra to the incident report I filed on Monday) as I was injured in the incident

And also a nice message on my phone from other parties insurance company..
They take responsibility for the incident and will settle my claim in full :) inc costs..  Result.

Just a shame this had to happen though.

Oh and insurance due in May so should all be sorted by then....  I hope!!!
lol

Should have mine back on Tuesday..
(Although the wife doesn't want to give this one back!!)

Progress at last then.  Shame about the Disco, but yes it's pretty much the same box as used by BMW on a lot of their autos now.

lol

love it..

Actually my insurance company law dept already waiting for my call to put that into action.
If anyone interested - Tesco insurance, assigned Albany Assistace to, well, assist.....  Went through with absolutely no problems and very helpful all the way.

All in Rather pleased with them and the outcomes.
Just unfortunate i had to use them, but they have got confirmation of other party admitting liability which is the main thing.
