Has anyone fitted Arnott rear air springs?

Post by martin33100 » Mon Jul 14, 2014 12:56 pm

Hi, I was working on our car yesterday and I noticed the rear air springs are showing wear and need replacing. They are £420 a pair from BMW and Arnott UK dealers do them at around  £360 a pair.
For people that don't know Arnott is an American company that manufacture air suspension products, there bags are made by continental.

Just wondered if any one has Arnotts fitted?

I ended up buying a pair of Arnott's for £340 delivered, I posted the same thread on the Xoutpost forum and lots of people have used them without a problem

How you getting on with these? Good choice? My 3.0SD just threw a hissy fit from the rear so  I need to fit a new pair of springs. Cheers.

Hmm. Bit unsure cos BMW have separate part numbers for comfort sport and adaptive yet the Arnott springs say they fit all. I've ordered some anyway as BMW quoted £609 just for the parts. Getting them fitted next week.

My rear near side suspension is making a hissing noise like the compressor is working but the air suspension is leaking. That corner sits lower than the other side and has caused the front right to look slightly raised as a result.

I wondered if you need to therefore replace BOTH air springs / bellows at the same time even if the other one is working fine, or can you replace just one side ?

Any advice much appreciated. Thanks.

Mine was hissing like that and you could hear the compressor still after the engine was switched off. I also got self levelling failure warnings. I went with Arnott springs in the end so did the pair as they were not the original BMW part. They seem fine. I would do both anyway because if one side has gone I doubt the other is far behind. I was charged just 1 hour labour by my excellent Indy for fitting. Springs cost me £365.
