Wipers suddenly stop working
Wipers suddenly stop working
Hi all, on a few occasions my wipers have suddenly stopped working in heavy rain , last time was Friday past in a thunder storm with three kids in the back and a screaming wife shouting STOP STOP STOP (put politely), not so easy when you cant see at 70mph lol. Sometimes they can restart in a few seconds other times could be down for ten minutes or so. When they fail, they don't work in any setting (rear wiper still works)
I am guessing this is a perhaps a faulty relay, has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions on a possible fix?
Thanks and any advice/help much appreciated

Re: Wipers suddenly stop working
Had a similar issue with my rear.
Turned out the brushes were shot and needed replacing..
Obviously you cant get the brushes by themselves so would be a new motor unit....
OR
Purchase some Bosch grinder (or similar power tool) brushes and file them to fit...
Not a bad fix at a cost of less than £10 compared to approx £150 if not more for the unit as a whole....

I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)

Dynamo is either
a rather over popularised "magician"
or a lame character in a futuristic-ish based Arnie movie based around a "game-show"
I definitely need to get out more...
Either way the tails on those brushes would be a little on the large side and the compound of the brush would be developed for higher currents as expected from those applications.
Portable tool brushes have the right size tails and are of a better compound to suit lower current application.
