Thank you to Jason for my E53 software update to car

I have had my X5 E53 for about 2.5 yrs which is a 2004 which about 72,000 miles on now and I enjoy owning one and even the fixing of problems, on occasions.
Recently when driving the car it became noticeable that the car was a little bit harsher when changing down on gearbox when slowing down.
So I contacted Jason at BW Chiptune who said they could look at it and check the the gearbox for the level and quality of the oil and if necessary they could do a software update and also a change the tipping software to make it smoother on the changes. I also asked about the engine software and a couple of tweaks to the system which I know some can do via scanners and software on laptops which I don't have.
We'll I arrived at Jason unit in Hayes and the car was left to cool. The car was physically checked over and also checked for fault codes, which showed it had previously had a slight misfire on 3 cylinders but this had cleared. So the codes were cleared. Once the car was cool enough to work on the gearbox was checked and the level was ok and the quality of the oil was acceptable. So it was now for the software update and tipping software to be installed which was done.
Next was the engine software to make it a bit more driveable and a couple of electronic tweaks such as well as the auto locking when driving off and alarm beeps for locking and unlocking so I know I have locked the car.
A big thank you to Jason, Alan, Dominic and Chris who made me feel welcome and took time to explain what was being done to the car and for improving my car a significant improvement.
The results, well Alan took me out for a test drive in my own car which is odd being drive in your own car but the car is definitely smoother on the gearbox changes both down and up, which is good as it takes the the harshness out of the changes at slower speeds. The car is certainly more responsive through the mid range which is what I wanted from my car.
On the way home due to the traffic on the M25 it was difficult to tell but on the A1m the car felt smooth cruising up the motorway. Once I have done a few more miles I will update this post.
Thanks again
Graeme
