Re: Adblu
Should definitely do more than that. Mine's due an inspection soon but last time adblue was topped up was around 15000kM ago (more than 9000 miles) and I don't have any check messages that it's getting low.

Re: Adblu
You're right not included in he service package they didn't charge labour this time but the adblu leaves a deposit where ever it drips so if they had charged for it they would be cleaning the engine bay right now
You top up you're self if you buy a litre container to get the adaptor use it cut the top off then pour the 10 litre one into that using it as a funnel
That's what I'm going to do next time

Re: Adblu
Maintenance packages must differ from region to region - adblue was included for me for the 4 year maintenance period. It's down to me now though, so I'm interested in cheaper alternatives (that are still within the technical spec).

Re: Adblu
Interesting!!!
Do you happen to know if it's the same specification as BMW (or is there indeed only one specification for DEF in the first place?...)

Re: Adblu
I had to top up the Ad Blue in February after 5,550 miles in my M50d, took it to the Eastern BMW in Edinburgh who topped it up for free. The guy said they were having a lot of issues with it. The car takes 8.5 litres to fill it up and after it got filled the iDrive said I had 10,000 miles before it needed filled...just clicked over to 10,000 miles (so 4,500 since top-up) and only had 2.5 litres left! I just bought a container of the stuff from the filling station for a tenner and topped it up myself. No issues, although it does take a few days of driving for the iDrive to recognise it's been filled!

Re: Adblu
I have had my adblue warning come on after only 6,000 miles, I bought the 1.89 litre top up from the dealer today and after turning the ignition on and off again its suggesting I still need to refill. not sure how much is still needed though :noexpression:
has anyone else had anymore recent experiences with AdBlue and has anything to add?? I bought the top up, the parts chap said if I need the larger one then that has to be done by the dealer and the car needs to be booked in...
Allforus: did the cutting the top off the top up and using it as a funnel work?? I was thinking the same....??
thanks

My F15 needs 8.5 litres of Ad Blue to fill the tank from empty (I assume all F15 variants are the same). If you go into the iDrive options list, go to vehicle status (I think), then Ad Blue, it tells you how much you need to put in to fill the tank and also how many miles you have on the current level.
The dealer is talking utter nonsense about needing to book it in to get Ad Blue filled up, I'm on my second 10-litre container bought from my local BP filling station, they come with a nozzle that you screw onto the opening once you take the lid off, piece of cake. It costs just over a tenner I think, I keep it in the garage and top it up every few months. Never had an issue, if fact, the car was in for it's first service a month or so ago and they never even mentioned Ad Blue.
