rattle at back passenger side ???

Hi all, just wanted to hear from you guys who will be in the know.! I have had my m sport (09 reg 3.0) now for nearly a month and I no there going to be a hard ride which is fine BUT I can not stand rattle's or squeaks.!
1st rattle seems to be coming from back end passenger side ? took it in and they say its a common problem with tailgate rubber seal. They have altered it and said see how it goes.! well the lower tailgate now is very hard to close, almost to the point you have to slam it shut.! They have said the will replace it but I'm now worried the noise is coming from the rear passenger side wheel maybe ??? any idea's please ?????
2nd slight problem is, when I have windows down I can hear a very light squeak noise from front some where ?? not a rattle but a faint squeak, a bit embarrassing to be honest when you driving through a town as people do tend to look..!!!! when I was at bmw garage having tailgate looked at they did come out for a drive and it only did it a few times (BLOODY TYPICAL) but he did hear it and has sprayed lubricants somewhere ?? Its not worked, again any idea's please ????? thanks
its a bmw approved car I bought with there warranty so I guess I can just keep taking it back until it's sorted I guess ??

I have a similar rattle from the rear of my Feb 2010 35d. Haven't had a chance to track it down precisely yet but it seems to be coming from inside the trim at the left hand side of the boot.

Ours also has rattles and creaks, our E90 3 series was silent inside and that cost a third of the price.

Can you offer any more detail on the problem with the rear seats that was causing the rattle?
Many thanks

Yes I am - when I sit in the rear LH seat it sounds as if it's coming from behind me behind a trim panel but I haven't pinned it down any better than that, hence my interest in your investigations!
TIA for any hints you can offer.

Mine did this. Lower bit of the tailgate rattling. I put a thin strip of stick on foam draft excluder across the top lip of the lower tailgate. Fixed it. Lasted 12 months but now starting to hear rattles again when idling.

Hi Mark,
I have the solution to both of your issues, had both of them myself
Right, simple fix for your creaking rear tailgate. Spray WD40 into the two locking mechanisms on the lower tailgate and the same on the single lock on the upper tailgate and Bobs your uncle. Who needs BMW mechanics...
Second problem not so easy... Took mine the BMW, under warranty, thinking it was a suspension issue or ball joint or something nasty, they suggested cleaning up the breaks and callipers first before they'd spend anymore time on it. I got this done by my BMW specialist guy and squeaky front suspension gone
Hope this helps.

thanks for that.! rear now all sorted but will give the front a try as it seems to be getting slightly worse I think ?? when you say clean, do you mean a good jet wash ?? also will have to check as its had new pads and disc's but can not remember if they said fronts or rear O:-)
