Have you got cold weather where you are?

Could be frozen mechanism on the locking and dirty or frozen wiper mechanism (dirty on the windscreen sensor, I mean)...

We have had cold weather here, someone said it may be a relay could this be the case?

Could be but those could also just be playing up because of the cIld weather. If you can wait for it to get warmer it will be more evident and if it continues, easier to work on...
