So here's a leading question.....

We know what should be done with the 5/6 speed autos, but what about the newer 8 speed ones?  Some may well be at or approaching the 60k miles point even after 4 years, and although I have yet to see anyone reporting issues, they still have mechanical bits sitting in a bath of oil which as we know has a finite life.

Has anyone had theirs changed yet, or been advised that it is something they will need doing?

What's the service profile for these newer units?

Forgive me for missing the "memo".
But what service should be done to the 6 speed transmisions.?
Im relatively new to the X5 thing....

Oil/Filter changes at around 60k miles.  BMW say 'sealed for life' but that's the useful life of the car according to BMW which, when pushed, they will tell you is actually 60k miles or the duration of the warranty..... >:(
