Post by Spartanx5 » Wed Jun 11, 2014 8:41 pm

O:-) does anyone know if you can upgrade the head unit in the 04 models, mine has the TV option but it can never find a single channel and some ex BMW salesman I know said you can chip them to digital or something like that? I would also like to be able to connect my iPhone if pos, I read on here in another part of the site there is a member who can do most of what I want done? Please let there be I haven't ever seen a ICE shop that doesn't look like it ran be thieves or people who charge AMG rates for Renault standard work

04 models as standard will have the analogue TV tuner and of course they were switched off last year or year before that??? So a digital tuner can be had but for uber money and it's rubbish on the move, not worth it.

As for connecting the phone, search for a sticky for the Bluetooth connectivity - your phone should connect no probs as long as you have the phone option (look for the cradle - with wires).

As Sanj says, hybrid tuners were installed from October 2004 production.

I decided to save myself a load of hassle and am having an aftermarket Pioneer unit installed on Friday.

DVD, DAB, iPod/phone connection, Parrot handsfree etc etc.. :)

I too went down the aftermarket route. Much better all round as can at DVDs, has built in hdd, runs the rear screens and has my spec.dock interfaced too so can play everything off my iPhone straight to the screen (music videos, films, you tube, etc). May not be as aesthetically pleasing to some but I love it.

Well only negative have to say is that the hands free is crap compared to the OE setup. Even tried relocating the mic to OE recess and still get a lot of echo etc.

The only reason I don't want to go aftermarket is because I like use of the trip computer etc, Has anyone ever used the intervee? to do the job? Does it even?

If your up for a bit of fancy work, take a look at http://pibus.info/index.html. I started running a Raspberry Pi on my TV as a media station and it worked a treat. Its a cheap way of getting mP3s and videos onto your standard screen.

That looks very interesting, but I haven't got the tech to be able to put it all together I'm afraid  :(

But its not easy to reset them....
How do you set the clock?
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
