Finally, after a few work-related delays my X is with Sytner Sutton Coldfield - couldn't arrange suitable time at Oldbury.  Got a call late yesterday that the suspension fault was likely due to an airbag collapse, and that they couldn't get the Sat Nav to work either (I had reported this at the same time). Yes, well I told you that when I dropped it off 8 hours ago...........

Bit of a wobble when the service advisor decided I needed to fetch the car as the "diagnosis" was now done and book it in for heaven knows how many weeks later, "when we have the parts.",  But that was soon sorted. She probably decided as I was female and, shall we say, of maturer years, that I could just be messed about but she quickly realised it was probably not her best idea ever. Service Manager called today to say BMW extended warranty (Mondial I think) have agreed to cover all the repairs and replace the sat nav. 

Whew.  Plus the parts have magically arrived - funny, that.  So it will all be sorted out for collection tomorrow morning. Without the humungous main dealer bill, fortunately.

Sounds like a bit of a result......even with a mid-course 'wobble'!

It's always a relief to hear the warranty covers these uncomfortable sorts of bills, as most main dealer stuff tends to be!  The service advisor who was helpful in the past is still there, but arrived just after I did, hence having someone else who thought I could just be brushed off dismissively.  Also difficult to know when to change vehicles - mine is at at point where it is around 80,000K so beneath the magic 100K mark where all vehicles except VW T4 vans become absolutely worthless.    But unless one has a lot of money to burn, it does seem senseless to part with an incredibly well-specced vehicle which still performs really well as you lose so much.      I have a brand new 2 series coupe as a loan car - its like Noddys car except its quite quick !  The boot is just about big enough for a packet of crisps and the interior feels really cramped, so if and when I do change sometime, it will not be for one of them!

Well, the saga carries on..........all I can say is, thank heavens for the warranty as these are now becoming mega repairs - service manager phoned to tell me there was an oil leak from the camshaft cover gasket so that was booked in for repair under the warranty as well and that although they had changed the airbag and installed new sensors all round, they could not get the car to the correct level and now think the ECU is faulty and needs to be replaced.

I didn't want the 2 series coupe for the weekend as I need to take my dogs out, so collected the X this afternoon and will return it on Wednesday - they have promised me an X6 loan car for as long as it takes to repair mine then.  Satnav was replaced and now working again,  a.though I doubt they upgraded to v32 so you can use the perspective view etc, but I can always do that later and hopefully find a newer OEM disc than my old 2006 one.

However, the ride quality is absolutely awful - the rear is so high I can hardly reach the boot lid when its open, with the front almost touching the front wheels , bouncing along like a bouncy castle and the slightest bump feeling like a mountain.  They set the ride height several times but it seems to have changed again and they said they needed to do further work and probably replace the ECU and/or compressor.    The error messages seem to have gone, but its definitely not right.  At this stage I think they are just changing out parts and trying to reset the software, but I don't really care what they do as long as I don't get to pay this £££££ bill.  I have owned the car coming up to 4 years now and kept up full main dealer service and warranty which seems to have been the right decision as BMW also gave a goodwill repair on the sunroof which wasn't covered by the warranty 2 years ago.

Oh well. An X6 should be nice for a few days, especially as its a brand new one. Watch this space!

Oh my. At least it's all covered by the warranty.

They'll eventually sort it after replacing everything LOL

I almost phoned you to ask if your coilovers were still available.........but I guess they can replace the entire system while the warranty covers it !

Lol. It is still available and would be cheaper the air pump alone BUT as you say while they are paying then let them.
