6500K Angel eye upgrade

Post by IronMonkeyPimp » Wed May 21, 2014 11:23 pm

Thaught I'd share the first upgrade to my X5, I noticed the angel eyes were yellow looking so bought some cree 10W bulbs for 46pounds. This was actually the first time I'd lifted the bonnet and it took me about 5 minutes to swap the bulbs out. Was surprised that 1 bulb did both angel eyes .... germanic magic !

I got them from the hids direct ebay shop, they were priced at 46 (buy now) but now price has gone back up to 55. They are advertised as 7000K but the box said 6500K. I didnt mind as they are bright enough for me.

There were no errors and the fit and fitting was really good.

They look good, I got a pair of cree led's off eBay recently, it's a much brighter whiter light than the standard halogen.

BTW the K value is the whiteness of the light not the brightness, there won't be much difference between 6500 and 7000

They were really simple - it was the first time i opened by bonnet on the X5, undo a panel on the back of a light - unplug the bulb and twist it out. Plug in new bulb and twist it in. Put the panel back, do the other side, drop the bonnet - job done.

Good luck

They are just your usual sidelights. So off by default and on when you flick the light switch to position 1. In case I have my terminology wrong -

Sidelight - lowest setting
headlight - used at night
Main beam - used when its pitch black at night and no street lighting.

I have auto lights on my car but I think there's a fault with it - when I have it on auto i get headlights on during the day - so I usually have it on manual and have them on or off as I want.
