Global Warming!

I don't care if the scientists are arguing about who is right or wrong, but I do object to finding a wasp the size of a 747 orbiting my young sons bedroom!!  Sounded like an angry electric razor!

Blasted European Hornet decided to pay a visit this evening!  Tother half gets seriously twitchy about wasps, but this 2" long version was nearly enough to require me to get her a stiff drink.  Never seen one in this part of the country until this morning.  Have now seen 4!

'Executioner' electronic bug zapping tennis racket (from that well known store named after a South American river) duly deployed and the bastard just shrugged it off.... :o. Took 15 taser like zaps from it to kill the blasted thing.

No doubt we have a nest somewhere within 1/2 mile so I'll need to keep an eye out.

Will fit nets across his windows tomorrow.

I read about these bad boys in the paper last week.  Quiet frankly they scare the swizzle out of me let alone the kids.

Imagine the fun and games if one got into your car just before a nice motorway journey.......

They are nasty bastards as well. Down here in Greece we have a lot of them and as Richard says, the battery powered tennis rackets are next to useless. If you get stung by one you really know it. Unlike wasps, they are nocturnal, so no respite at night.

Back in Maidstone I've seen 2 and that was a couple of years ago. None since which I hoped was a good sign that they can't survive the relative cold in the UK.

At the time asking it to hold still and adopt a suitable pose for the camera was a little far down my to do list..... :D :camera:

It went into the waste disposal!

But this should give you the general idea....about 50mm long!!

At least it wasn't the Asian type as those a seriously mean and as yet not in the UK.

The Executioner.  Hits it with a few thousand volts.  Not recommended for tennis though.

Great reviews " I can honestly say it was the best 30 minutes I've had at work since a Raccoon got into the photocopier."
