Auto-Electrician South West

Hello all,
I have the common 'some link in my sat nav chain' is broken issue with the 'please wait' message of death. I have had the DVD looked at by revtronic and a few pixels in the screen have now gone. I am using an oem disc but know that the two modules in the boot under the spare wheel support dome (I don't know the technical name for that!) may have got damp. It might also be worth mentioning that selecting the 'Config Menu' causes screen freeze which can only be sorted by stopping and letting everything power down. Sometimes get the reversion to the blue/brown old-school blocky screen (Atari pong on there?!) too!
Thanks to the forum I know the common fixes to try and haven't really had any success; does anyone know a decent auto-electrical specialist in the south west (even Birmingham as its a shortish cruise away) who could isolate which module is nadged so that I can try to replace it?
I'd like to try to retain the look of the car so don't want to investigate (and can't afford to!) replacing the head unit when it might just be a single module to change.
Any suggestions or recommendations welcome-thanks, all.
