pano roof finally broke - repaired on cheap!!

Post by fenj66 » Mon May 05, 2014 12:43 pm

as title really,
the rear glass section finally gave up the ghost and refused to go down yesterday.
after swotting up on the subject on this forum and deciding i was not going to pay £2000 to be able to tilt open the rear glass twice a year, i have today done the mod to get it back down and to permenatly dissable the rear section. took all of 5 mins!!. now the front glass works as normal and seems to tilt up/down with much less strain than it did before, now its not trying to pull up the rear section up/down with it.

Dead easy mod  - push backwards, using a screwdriver or similar ,the two side ramps under the rear glass section to close it fully.
retract the front glass section all the way backwards using the electric switch.
remove the spring and guide from each front section side carrier.
cut with hacksaw and remove the the small triangular plastic tab from front bottom of each side carrier.
recalibrate sytem by holding electric button for one minute till it goes through all the motions.
job done!

wish i had took photos now    but big thanks to this link for the know how  http://xdrivers.co.uk/forum/index.php/t ... 26.15.html
