Hi, just wondered if anyone had fitted a set of BMW mud flaps to there E70?.
I got a set of used mud flaps from ebay but when I spoke to BMW parts about the fittings they said you can only get the fittings with new mud flaps.
When I had a quick look on the car the mud flap holes did seem to line up with the wheel arch rivets, do you just have to use slightly longer rivets?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I retro fitted them onto my X6, assume they are pretty much the same fitting process.

Iirc the plastic rivets were slightly longer but as I broke a few trying to work out how they worked and then making a rivet nose piece to fit my local deal gave me a handful of spares.

I would advice against fitting if it is too cold, or leaving the rivets in the garage. They work better when warm as I found them quite brittle.

If you are not too fussed, you will get a firmer fitting by drilling small 3-4 mm hole in arch and using self tappers.  There are not too many per flap and the plastic rivets can be biatches to fit unless you have the correct tool (NB: they cant be fitted using a normal rivet gun as they just break time and again - bitter experience).

[/quote]I may try self tappers then, is there much of a difference then  between a rivet gun for metal and plastic rivets?.
Also if I do use self tappers I am guessing its only plastic material behind the front and rear arches?

Check eBay for plastic rivet gun and you will see vast difference. Should be placcy and maybe the rolled edge of wing depending on car model. Treat any drilled holes with a dab of grease
