Just discovered the dreaded water in the tail lights problem!

Had the E70- for 3 weeks now and loving it.
Gave it a good wash and clean today.
Opened the boot and got about a litre of water thrown at me.

Soon noticed washing sloshing around in the lights on the upper tailgate.

Quick Google revealed it's a common problem when the goo they used to seal the lights in melts and fails.
BMW sell a replacement foam seal now.

There's also a good video on YouTube an Aussie guy made showing how it's done.

Looks relatively easy - has anyone here put the new seals in?

Just wondered how much they cost and how long it took?

Typically its Easter and everywhere is shut!

The seals from memory are under £20 from BMW, we had the same problem when we bought are E70 and I fitted the seals.
The only problem was one of the rear tail lamps must have got some damp in it already by this time because one month later the nearside lamp stopped working and they are not cheap to replace.

Probably items 2 and 9 on this parts sheet depending on which light unit has the issue.  I think it's 9 from your description.

Just picked up the two tailgate foam light seals - £9.90 each for anyone needing to know in the future.
