For you and others struggling with bluetooth pairing this may be worth checking if you haven't already.

Hi petert
checked the site you said
My phone isn't on the list so i take it it won't work that's a bit crap really as they should all work really
You can buy an aftermarket kit say parrot which will probaly support all phones and networks
I wonder if you can update the software/firmware on thebmw bluetooth with a scanner??

Re: bluetooth dilema sony ericsson
One of BMW's biggest issues when I bought my E53 in 2005 was the Company's lack of support for all the various flavours (there are 8, so much for an Open Standard) of Bluetooth and address book standards. It led me to choose a built in system instead where (annoyingly) the Sim card has to be plugged into the car. At the time my telephone supplier was about to offer dual Sim operations so you had one in the car and the other in the mobile. You could only use one at a time of course! Sadly the plan was cancelled. My wife's E46 was an early version with telematics (July 2005) and had a much better bluetooth capability.
I think the only way of updating was to replace the TCU itself - a not inexpensive option. I think your phone will need to support version 1.x, but I can't remember exactly which of 1.0, 1.1 or 1.2. Some will pair but that's all, others will sort of work. Bluetooth is a minefield and a repeat of the video standards conflict of the 1970's & 1980's (VHS v Betamx), and HD DVD / Blu ray. You really would have thought they'd have learned!
Check what standards of Bluetooth you phone uses / supports and see if the car also supports.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Sturach - I don't thinkn it necessarily means if won't work, but all the features on the phone probably won't be supported. In other words, being on the list is a good place to be but not the be-all-and-end-all.
The other thing to think about is that the phone software may be update-able which can help. We had different software on 2 old phones (same make and model) and they seemed to work slightly differently.
