Hi

I recently purchased a 2002 X5 3.0i with view to towing a car trailer.  Just wondering what you knowledgable chaps recommend in terms of a quality low-cost towbar.

I'm considering buying the following Witter towbar and Westfalia (vehicle specific) wiring kit...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Witter-Fixed-Flange-Towbar-for-BMW-X5-SUV-2001-to-2007-BM16A-/231142479495
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Towbar-Wiring-Kit-BMW-X5-E53-2000-2007-13-Pin-Electrics-/151081382395

I'm basing my choice on a reputable local towbar company who only supply Witter & Westfalia.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!  8)

Westfalia is the OEM kit so you won't go far wrong with that for both the towbar and wiring.

Thanks for the response X5Sport, Westfalia is a bit pricey in comparison to Witter though.

True, but at least you know everything will fit & work and it's the correct load rating etc.  Have you had a look at PF Jones for prices?

I have a detachable witter towbar fitted to my 2005 3.0d with the single electric socket for towing my caravan and can't fault it

I retro-fitted a Westfalia detachable last August , was £485 all included , the Witter I got a quote for was
only a bit cheaper and I preferred to stay OEM route .
