Remap versus insurance

Just want to clarify something as I've read a few comments regarding a remap.

Do you have to disclose it to the insurance company, how would they know?

Want to get it done for all the benefits but don't want to have to pay higher premium.

The best advice is to tell you to disclose it because if the worst happened it would be VERY bad for you. According to your policy, you MUST notify them, you'd be silly to think that they wouldn't want to know.

However many people don't and have got away with it.

I would say in the event of a serious accident they may look for a remap. They're not stupid enough to not know that 'everyone is doing it' these days so the suspicion would be there. They can find it if they have the right equipment.

Oooops... apologies for the obvious stupid question on a public forum, was having a blonde moment!! (is it alright to say that?? don't mean to offend any blondes out there!!)

Anyway picked my E53 beauty up tonight and would just like to say I will NOT be getting a remap in the future to improve performance and mpg

Just spoke to my insurance company (LV) about extra cost if we Remap out E70 40d.  The extra cost would be £37 for the year.  At that cost not worth the risk of not telling them imo.
