Is the breather pipe required to be changed?

Hi Guys

I used to have a 02 x5 and i had the breather pipe for the turbo changed as this is a cause for blockage and a a factor for turbo failure.

Now i have bought the facelifted 3.0d with what i beleive is the modified breather pipe assembley , is it still a requirment to change this?, the car is on 69k and it is booked in at BMW northwest Bolton next week for a ATF drain and replace, they have told me its not a requirment as much as the pre facelift, but as its only £70 to do i thought it is a good idea?

what do you think?

many thanks

If it is £70 fitted then I would get it done for peace of mind.

BTW how much are you paying for your ATF to be changed? They usually fob you off at the dealers saying it is 'Lifetime' whatever that means in BMW's eyes.

Turks.

Hi turks

I have had a c couple of e46m3's and a 535d and the x's so i have used bmwnorthwest a fair bit, so not sure what price he would give you but it shouldnt be far off what i get as i dont think i get massive discounts!!!

£65 + Vat for the ATF drain and refill - i presume the filter is changed as it was last time.
£70 + vat for the breather pipe.

He usally sorts out vat etc.

Not bad prices for servicing either and all ex bmw staff and chris (owner) has been working for BMW for nearly 30 yrs before setting up. First used them a few years ago when my SMG pump went on my e46 m3 - Bmw price - £2100 + VAT , they did it for £900 for the pump at trade from BMW and around £500 labour, included all oils etc, used them ever since.
