1 week of mods on the E70

As DVLA seem to be taking their full 7 working days to transfer my plate on to it, I thought I'd challenge myself to see how much I can get done before the plate change

)
So far, I've:
1. changed the standard grilles for the BMW performance gloss black versions (original titanium ones on ebay if anyone wants the link...)
2. removed the two mesh grilles from the front bumper and painted them black to match (front bumper off for the lower grille but not too bad a job!)
3. removed the wrap from the roof and spoiler to give it a black roof (original paint is in fairly good condition)
4. obtained a rear aero splitter, had it wrapped and fitted it
5. had it remapped by Jason
Next week will be two new rear Bridgestones (non rft) to replace the RFT on the rear. The front are non-RFT (but other than that are the same tyre as the rear RFT) Bridgestones and I don't like the idea of mixing.
The wheels will be refurbed in gloss black at the same time.
I am on the hunt for a front aero splitter now too and I also plan to get the black plastic on the running boards wrapped to match the rest of the car. Lastly I will change the exhaust tips.
Oh, and I will also be washing it hopefully as its filthy!
PS The silver ///M boot badge is not my addition but I don't think i'll take it off as I am scared of pulling the vinyl away. Probably I have nothing to worry about but why risk it just for a misplaced ///M badge. They don't bother me like they used to.

Have you got the link for your grills?

If you want them, you can knock 10% off the ebay price if you are happy to buy direct and not through ebay (ebay fees!)

Looking good there bud!!!! I like the roof and the spoiler wrap off look. Will look soon much Better with gloss black wheels too, love the grills on white. Regarding your running boards, I personally would be tempted to pull off each little bung ( they pop out ) then get some plastidip and plastidip the whole aluminium running board in black, then re apply the bungs afterwards and go for a black look! Think it would look sweet with the black roof rails and black wheels. Plastidip is brilliant stuff. Really hard wearing. Think that would look nice. But good job so far.

Cheers!
That sounds like a good idea. I have seen black running boards and they do look god.
Hmmmm...
And there I was trying to reduce the list of things to do, not expand it
Thanks for that, I will keep you posted as I haven't decided what way to go with the car yet.
Our car is black and I am just about to get an aero kit painted up for it, I haven't decided if I am going to keep the titanium bumper grills and get titanium kidneys or get all tge grills done in black.
Do you know if you can get the oem kidneys apart to paint? as I saw a black X6 the other day with titanium kidneys but the outer frames were black and it looked very nice.
Also what mpg are you getting on a 70mph motorway run pre and post remap?

Yes you can. The slats clip away from the surrounds like on most BMW grilles. I was quite pleased to discover this myself.

It's a quick fix if anything, plastidip is brilliant!! Or spray them properly even? But either way I do think black is the way to go on them. What bulbs have you got in your angels?

Regarding the tail pipes you can get the V8 tail pipe kit from BMW if you want something to easily bolt on but its not cheap, I bought just the trims but I work in an engineering workshop where we have the facilities to mig and tig weld.
I got these from ebay when they have make offer on and from memory they were around £60, the only problem is the inlets taper down to 60mm but you have to cut them back as the 3.0d has 65mm tail pipes.

I'm not sure, the previous owner did them. I though it was normal for them to be white until I started paying to attention to other E70's on the road of the same age

It has to be done doesn't it
Yours looks good. The front splitter is my favourite part but I got the back so quickly because someone had one locally for a good price.

pre remap it was around 30mpg at 70 (it would be higher at 60ish). Post remap its saying 33ish at 70 and more still when doing 60ish.
I haven't been able to brim-to-brim it yet though to confirm.
A neighbour of mine has an exhaust place and he says he has the v8 look tips in stock for the e70. I doubt they're genuine BMW, but it wouldn't bother me. I need to pop down to his unit and take a look really.
