4 x 17" Alloys with Michelin M+S all weather tyres

Hi all,

I am part-xing my E53 (for an E70), so have for sale 4 nearly new alloys  17x7.5" ET40 part number: BMW 36111096159 .  I'd keep them if they fitted the E70 but they don't :(

They are unmarked, shod with Michelin All Weather M+S (mud and snow) MXV4 Plus.  The tyres all have 7mm tread.

These were all as new (mainly ex-spares) when I fitted them in January 2014.  I wanted to be prepared this year for the snow - but it didn't arrive. I have to say, they are really nice to drive with as they make the ride smoother than the 18" snowflakes on the Sport.

I will be taking them off the car in the next few days and then will be able to post some pictures.

I'm after £400 ono  - collection from Warwick or carriage at cost.

Any questions send me a pm.

Cheers

Steve

I see I have competition.  Will take £250 for a quick sale.

You would need to check with someone who knows, but from a Google search it looks like the alloys from an e53 will fit the X3, but the tyres are too big.  It may work, but not sure if they physically don't fit the gap or they are not recommended.

Hope that helps. Will post some photos shortly.

If you can afford to wait, rather than go for a quick sale, then you'll get far more (ie nearer your original asking price) if you wait till the autumn. The enlightened buy them now and get them cheap ( i got a set on ebay two years ago in June for 200 quid) - come the autumn/winter someone will have your hand off. But they do take up a fair bit if room just sitting around

Mmm.  That's a good point Smee.

My better half would like me to get rid.  I think I will list them on flea bay for £325 or best offer and see what sort of response I get.  If all is silent, then maybe Mrs Blackdog will put up with them for a few more months!

This is one of the wheels.  Frankly they all look the same!

They are not winter tyres though, they were the standard fitment for the E53 SE model.

In which case it may be better to split wheels and tyres 200 is ok for a set if winter wheels then 4 x whatever for part worn tyres (sold as a set as its less hassle and once youve sold one youve got less than a set and are unlikley to find someone who wants three)

Excellent, just hope they are aware that they are not winter tyres.

I haven't said they are winter tyres.  The buyer wants some 17" wheels.  However FWIW, I know they came as standard tyres on the SE.  They are made in Canada and were standard in North America on the early E53s (AFAIK).

But they are rated M+S - which is mud and snow.  Clearly they are not extreme weather tyres that are marked with a snowflake.  However, they are fine for the UK's winters and more useful in bad conditions than a tyre that isn't M+S. I used these tyres myself and can vouch for them.

If M+S tyres are acceptable as winter tyres in Germany and Austria, then they are plenty good enough for me...
