To buy or not to buy?

Well it's nearly the time to consider to replace or keep my E70,I originally didn't like the new F15 but it's growing after seeing some reallife photos eg:Image

Imagebut which model and being a gadget fan what are must have options?

My current car is an E70 40D Msport,is the F15 M50d that much better considering price and spec against the F15 40d msport and from cars bought by fellow members here white and space grey are favourites ATM?

The new F15 has the stop start and regeneration features as standard so from experience would an LCi version be available in the not so distant future?

Decisions.…decisions help me decide guys?

I'd say the F15 40d is a bargain compared with the 50d. Better CO2 and MPG, only 0.6 difference on the 0-62mph, over £8k cheaper and no silly badging!! No brainer to me :)

Some of the magazine reviews don't rate the 50d but prefer the lower powered engines, but you can take those with a pinch of salt I guess.

I don't think white is necessarily the most popular choice in the UK. Definitely in the US and AUSY where they have sunshine year round, but here in the UK I'd expect Carbon/Sapphire Black and grey, to be the most popular choices. White could go out of fashion at anytime.

You're looking at around another 3 years before an LCI based on past X5 releases.

If i was buying today I'd have the 40d Msport and use the money saved on the 50 on extras :)

I've got a space grey one with the blacklining (not the chrome) and think it looks great. However, I think it looks brilliant in the carbon black too, (again not with the chrome), I just had a dark blue e70 and before that a carbon black 5 series so wanted a change.

Get the sunroof for light in the cabin, get AT LEAST the Harmon Kardon stereo as the lower options are pants. Get the all round cameras to make parking a breeze, get the connected drive and enhanced bluetooth stuff. Get anything else you fancy :)

I saw a 14 plate X5 40d yesterday for the first time in the metal & I have to say I wasn't sure from looking at photos but I really liked it in the metal it looked the business I thought.

On my sensible side of thinking I've always considered the 40d Msport for value and possible resale value but you know the other "greedy" side go for the 50d…only normal I think!

Options on my E70 is quite a list,BMW on the F15 chopped and swapped some around, many I'm not sure does what?

Have just gone for it. 40D Carbon Black with Ivory/Black

Pano Roof
Head up
Night vision
Speed limit display
Winter Pack
Reversing cam
Comfort seats
Comfort access
Advanced loudspeaker
Sun protection glass

Just need to decide Y shape 451 or the 469M alloys. Have specced the former but have till end of week.

Nope. Added that and head up for new toys over my E70. Dropped enhanced bluetooth and universal remote control. :)

It is only normal! I often like to try to go for the top of the range if I can afford it as when you don't you always wish you had as soon as you see a better model!!

If I had the money & could afford to run one I would go with a X5M I reckon even though the d makes more financial sense for sure.

That first wheel looks gorgeous the 40d I saw yesterday was lovely but it looked under wheeled but I didn't check what size they were but with the X5`s big arches I think they suit a bigger wheel far better.

They are both 20", the latter is the M Sport wheel and slightly lighter and only available on the M Sport. The Y shaped ones appear to look larger than the M Sport wheel so that is what I chose.

Congrats,

As for the wheels, the 'Y' (top picture) look really nice.  Not keen on the others.

I thought they were both 20`s but couldn't be 100% sure, I personally think they need the 20" wheel on with the big arches & my old X5 had 20" wheels & combined with the air suspension I thought it rode really well.

Seeing these new X5`s really makes me want another I bet you guys are well happy with them.  :)

Nice colour combo - same as mine, but you made a better engine and wheel choice ;)

Spec looks good but i'd personally dump the night vision for surround cameras and harmon kardon, and/or drive assist plus. Personal preference of course, but if you live in the sticks and need to watch out for elk, night vision might make sense.
