As title has anyone of you guys asked for an extended test drive and your responses from the salesperson when you popped the question?

Why not ask for the extended test drive and if the dealer is reluctant, then ask him what he's hiding?  Lexus, Merc or Range Rover may give you an extend drive and if they do, use this to force the dealers hand.

Saying that, I have strongly hinted that I may be interested in the new i3 but the dealer hasn't taken the bait.  I have been wondering if the dealer is reluctant to let me have an extended drive.  Time to push the issue I think.

My local dealer offered a whole day right at the start probably could have pushed for a weekend but I ended up getting a ex demo elsewhere, to be honest after driving it for 10 mins I knew I was going to have one just so many improvements to my e70 it was just a case of getting the right deal sorted.

I had one experience with my local bmw dealership the salesman just laughed and shrugged off the idea, luckily one of the directors walked past me and asks how was I.

I knew this guy as he was a customer of mine and told him of his sales staff negativity in front of the a-hole,what made me laugh was the director told him to organise the 1 day test drive straight away!

Took the car for a whole day no doubt the sales guy wasn't too pleased evidently when I asked him to match another dealer quote he said "he can have it!"

I suppose it's one way to test wether the salesperson is willing to do a good deal or not upon asking for an extended test drive.

I took a brand new m5 as they were launched for a week and put 1000 miles on it

Didn't like it so didn't buy one

We'll if you're spending that sort of wedge on a car I personally don't think that's wrong because as you've said you didn't like it in the end even adding that extra 1k to the demo car's mileage, that's what demo cars are for aren't they?

The brightest comment on here is that the willingness to arrange an extended drive is a pretty good indication of how keen for a sale the dealer is. If they won't give you one then find another dealer cos it's not just the test drive they're screwing you out of!
