I bought the dealer products which were better cover.

Seems daft skimping on an insurance product.

Just knock the dealer down and you won't be far away anyway.

Disagree. Dealer products are overpriced and overrated. How is the dealer sold product better than ALA? Both are underwritten by a UK company, with similar terms and conditions. Mondial/AGA in the case of BMW and Lloyds of London for ALA

My dealer said they couldn't get anywhere near the ALA price for the same cover. Something about them not being allowed to aggressively sell financial products anymore, a fairly recent change imposed by the FSA.

Course if you CAN get the same product for the same money from a dealer, might as well do it.

OP - Which did a comparison a few months back:

On my X5, the dealer quote was so far off that it was just a joke. I took a third party insurance as well, seemed pretty straight forward with the only evidence they would need is a write off notice by your insurance company.

They are so over priced that you can negotiate down a lot!!!

The gap is capped on those so if you have a mega spec car you can still be exposed

My dealer would not negotiate on the gap, tyre or smart repair insurance, so I politely declined their offers, I will try ALA for a price match as poster above got, thanks for the info.
