Front bumper mesh grilles...Help please!

Post by Roy2593 » Mon Dec 06, 2010 6:46 pm

Hi all,

A bird decided to collide with the front of my bumper today. IT flew straight into the drivers side mesh on the bumper and smashed it!!

I have ordered a new one from BMW at a costly price of £41+vat.

I have lifted the bonnet up to have a look and i can locate this mesh. Does anyone know how to replace this? Is it possible to change without removing the bumper?

Can anyone help me?

Many thanks,

Roy.

Hi Roy,

One you can do without removing the grill and the other you have to partially remove the bumper for but I can't for the life of me remeber. x555 is best placed to answer this one and here is a link to his thread, just in case you need to remove the bumper - ah and PM himunless he replies tonight...

You have a pm matey

And for the benefit of others...... The top two grilles slide to the side (from the outside to the inside IIRC) there is a chunky piece of plastic on each grill towards the centre of the bumper, use this to slide the grill towards the middle
I took the bumper off to do mine as i was changing the bottom grilles aswell but Alfamale (forum member that comes on every now and then)did his on the old forum and said that it is possible without taking off the bumper.
Good luck mate and don't forget that they will be brittle in this cold weather ;) .
