First ever BMW - F15 X5 M50d

Post by Dr C » Wed Feb 26, 2014 1:17 pm

Hi all

Bagged myself one of the new X5 (F15) M50d models, my first ever BMW. Joining the forum as I think it's always a great resource to find out stuff and share things you would never get anywhere else!

Cheers

Good car......and  :hi:

Hint......First mod - get a hairdryer out and lose the BMW 'signwriting' on the boot!  Good to see the car - not a bootload of badges which will only corrode in 5 mins :o

The M50d badges are a little on the bling side.....but yes that torque is quite something.  :drive:

Thanks all for the warm welcome, but what's the beef with the badge? I know it's not a fully blown M-car, and I've already had a rake of abuse from my colleagues about it. Or is that why I should take it off?

It is a proper 'M' car........the aficionados just pooh pooh the very thought because it's not petrol.

And the badge thing is only because they're not exactly subtle.......IMHO.  :)

What makes it a proper M car?

Nothing would ever please you regardless, but it was supposedly developed by the BMW 'M' Team.

You won't like it because it's got a turbo (or three), got too few cylinders and burns central heating fuel, it weighs too much (in your opinion), is too big (again in your opinion) and it's a BMW which you spend so much time slating.
