X6 Recall - front propshaft.

Mine goes in on 20/2/14 for this .

All E71's made between April 2010 and November 2010 are in the scope for needing a front propshaft check.  There is a problem with the UJs which can lead to bolt failure and the front propshaft failing.  If you have an unexplained vibration and increased noise in the cabin, then this may be the cause.  If yours is found faulty then it will be replaced FOC.

Full details are on this E70 thread.

How can I tell the build date of my car, it was registered 28th February 2011, so may have been built October, November.

Just at the back left of the engine bay where the covers are there should be a black label with 'Build Date <Month><Year> on it?  You might be just outside the date range.  Mine was built beginning of October and registered mid November.

Ok, I'll have a look, I did give the dealer a call today who said the car was clear but for peice of mind I'll check anyway.

By the way, did you get my reply to the message you sent last week?

Nope.  No panic though....

Glad you're in the clear.  Must have been a very quick turnaround......perhaps the boat was caught in a jet stream too.. :))

Car in this morning, front propshaft replaced due to excessive 'circumferential' backlash in the UJ.  That was at 14,000 miles.  Parts actually in stock - unlike the bits I'm still waiting for from last August.
