Importing from Eire????????

Not an X5 but something a little rarer (Jeep Wrangler Auto) which is currently living in Dublin on Eire plates.

Does anyone have any experience of the process to import and register it in the UK.

Evidently it came to the UK in 2007 (not sure where from) and was then exported to Eire, also in 2007. Although it's a 2006 car it wasn't registered in Eire till 2008 and it then got an irish 2008 plate.

Don't know much else at this point but any help on the import process would be appreciated.

i may be wrong but i think northern (uk stlye plate e.g 'fnz 1234' are easyier than the southern
e.g 08-D-12345.  you will have all the paperwork etc, mot, tax but also may have to pay vat... but dont know, 100%

I've imported 2 cars from japan and it's easy you have to pay vat, duty shipping etc you won't have to pay vat duty will you I'm not sure.

A
To be exempt from paying Irish VAT on a car the imported car needs to be
at least 6-months old and have 6000kms on the clock - so it is not
generally feasible to re-register a brand new car unless the UK dealer
can supply free-of-VAT (not easy to do). Some Northern Ireland dealers
may be VAT registered on both sides of the border, however dealers then
encounter problems with the distributors if they try to do the first
registration outside the country of supply.

Thanks boys.

I've decided to wait for a good UK registered car to appear. The guy who was selling the Eire registered car was at best evasive and at worse.......who knows???

Did like yellow though!!!
