It happens I suppose, with the number of non-driver type white van men around.........

My Xes passenger side mirror was clobbered by one of these miscreants this morning, no chance of getting the number plate down.  Luckily, damage is amazingly limited and I certainly don't want to claim from insurance- the casing of the mirror came off but was unscathed, and the motor etc all still fully operational.  Thank heavens.  I was able to clip it all back together and it is fully operational. But the mirror itself has a small crack so will need to replace it sometime, and the black shiny plastic surround that clips onto the front of the colour coded mirror casing itself, has vanished - does anyone know if this can be sourced separately to the casing?  If anyone has access to the part numbers, or a link, that would be gratefully received.......

Had a look on a REALOEM?

Any of the items in this page from Realoem look like the right one?

ThanksRichard, its number 2 - left supporting ring.  Will arrange buying one via dealer /online.  Not inclined to replace the auto dim glass though at the silly prices charged by BMW.  The fluid was starting to break down and the glass was cloudy so needed replacing anyway, think I will just get a normal, heated glass replacement.

Don- couldn't agree more. Will be able to identify the idiot via my dash cam, but getting his details would mean a Police Report and getting Insurance involved, so will just buy the trim and a new mirror glass and be done with it. Thankfully the motors, cover etc are all working fine. 

Put the selfish  :-X up on YouTube!!  Maybe his/her boss will see it...... >:D

Are you using a front only, or front & rear setup?  I'm still trying to find a suitable rear HD version for mine.

Just a front - nice little unit I bought via Amazon after reading some reviews on a dash camera review site. Its an Ambarella the HD footage is excellent and the software is good. The unit has GPS in built as I figured it could pinpoint time and location in case of any incident.  Under £60. 

Yipe, my  Roadhawk HD was a lot pricier than that.... :rant:

I bought that part as well Condor in the past, was around a tenner from the dealer.

Two types though, gloss and matt.

Yep, nearly bought a Roadhawk and then I read a lot of reviews and thought I would risk the £60 on the Amabarella rather than spend £100's and so far have been very happy. 
Pvr, you obviously bought the mirror surround quite a long time ago it cost £32 now!  And yes, will try to get the footage off and post it.....

Yes - must be about 6 - 7 years ago that I bought (two) for them, one for my car, one for my dad's who came to visit me in the UK and met your white van's twin brother ...
