I am going to view an X5 tomorrow and the car does not have the communication package (just the standard radio with the flip down trim).... question:
You able to fit the TV/SAT NAV headunit that you get in other X5's?? :|

Best advice is don't bother....expensive retrofit and not that easy from what I've heard. Xes without Comms Pack are much less desirable and also more difficult to sell on - I think the figure quoted is around £1500 less for a car without the comms pack.
I'm sure the guys who know a lot more about it will be about shortly, but all I can say is.....wait for the right car, you'll regret not having one with the Comms Pack!!! Somehow a Parrot kit just isn't quite the same.......

Excuse if this sounds a silly question but what is the "communication " package? ie, what do you exactly get from it?

The big screen jobbie, changer (optional), bluetooth, TV, SatNav, etc

Prices can vary from the £1500 to £3000 but yes it is ancient and not worth its weight but the aura of OEM for those who don't own one keeps the demand up.

Some forum members have fitted an aftermarket double DIN unit which will be 10 year in advance but then it isn't OEM... The other thing with OEM is not having to worry if that shiny new headunit will still be there when you come back. There's always some chancer out there...

Looked into fitting a 2nd hand oem unit - coming in at about 1500quid - did not have all the functions I wanted either - went for after market double din unit - very happy with it - see similar post viewtopic.php?f=8&t=771

Ah ok, thanks for that.

I think I will hold out for one with the comms pack
