Reversed into a bolder.... :(

Post by Timh » Sat Dec 04, 2010 8:58 pm

What an end to my holiday with the kids!

Packed up the x...reversed down a narrow lane at center parcs and bang!! I reversed into a kerb side bolder!. Back wheel bent in and wheel now rubbing on inner wheel arch. I am gutted. Had to get rac out to trailer car home and then take to BMW for repair. I have looked and the upper tie rod is defo bent dont know what else though. No body damage but car is undriveable at the moment. What a nightmare parking sensors didnt see it either.

Hopefully rear subframe is ok....I was only doing 5 or so mph. Really could do without this. Only bought it 3 weeks ago :(

Better cancel the turkey this Xmas :(

More news monday

Reversed into a bolder.... :(

Oh Tim

I'm gutted on your behalf. It's my worst nightmare. When they're low lying the PDC's don't warn you. I've done it on my car bout 20 years ago :-(

The fact that you were only doing 5 mph should limit the damage and of course always question what your told by the dealership and decide from there who gets to do the job.

Centre Parcs is costly enough without that.

Really bad news, sorry to hear that. Hopefully not too costly and not damaged the Axle or the Strut.

I know how you feel.
Quite a few years ago i reversed into the corner of a very low wall. Gouged right into the corner of the rear bumper of my 530i. I was able to drive away on that occasion though. Annoying thing was I knew that the wall was there.

My thoughts the same as others - absolutely gutted for you. Would give me sleepless nights for weeks.

I hope it gets sorted quickly and cheaply!

Well the quote is in and it's not nice!

Rear upper and lower tie bars
Wishbone
Shocker
4 wheel alignment
Plastic trim under rear bumper

All in £1350 ouch at BMW main dealer.... Hopefully will be back eairly next week. Looks like my audio upgrade will have to wait!

Getting the box from Mitch though so at least that's a positive (cheers mate).

Not a great week but that's how it goes. Anyhow what speakers have you all fitted up front and in rear doors? Did you use the adaptor rings and what size speakers did you buy?

Cheers

Tim
