DSC and heated seats

Post by thm11 » Sun Jan 26, 2014 9:30 am

Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum I have just purchased a 06 3.0d sport.
I have a small or not so small issue appeared last night.

The 4x4 light has appeared on the dash and the heated seats wont turn on, the lights on the seat switch come on for a second then go out??
I have been reading other threads with regards to the DSC, I have had no messages come up on the dash nor are there any fault codes in the memory.. are there separate relays for the switches or is there one for the whole switch block ???? any help would be great
Thanks in advance

Chris

Quick update the dsc light is out I have just ordered a new set of bridgestones star rated tyres, hopefully that will cure that, still miffed by heated seats not working.

Did the seats work when you purchased the car?  If not then take it back unless it was a private sale.

Do the other electrically powered features of both front seats work correctly?  If it's worth checking the electrical connections under the seats (yellow connector plug...)

If the other functions work on both seats but neither seat heats up it's at least possible someone has changed out the seats and the new ones aren't heated.

When I installed heated front seats there was no extra relay to fit: the only extra connection was to fit and connect the different switch module with the heated seat switches.  Clearly you still have this and maybe it tries to energise (light comes on) and then gives up after a second when it doesn't detect a heating element (light goes out).

Good luck!

Yes both seats were both working yesterday including the heating, I have looked in the glove box fuse box and don't see anything for heated front seats, all a bit strange.

Fuses 32 & 53 (should be shown in Column 2 of the fuse card).  5A and 25A respectively.

Just an update on the DSC light issue, I have fitted new star rated bridgestone ep30 tyres, drove around 15 miles and light back on. No codes on the diagnostic. has anyone any ideas what this could be?? it is now driving me nuts.

Ok so just had a full diagnostic using a bosch kts 650 machine. faults are as follows

Transfer case 55C4

Steering angle sensor.

Has anyone else had these faults and did the steering sensor also cure the transfer fault?

I cant do anything until Monday now but I am not going to drive it until I know what 55C4 code means.

Thanks in advance
Chris

My 4x4 light came on when the battery went flat and had a steering sensor fault, I just did the reset by driving slowly forward and turned the steering wheel from lock to lock and that fixed it.  Worth a try.

Thanks will give it a try but diagnostic would not clear the issue. there was some crap tyres on the truck when I bought it and beginning to think they were the problem. had some bridgestones fitted and booked in on Monday for alignment then ill change the angle sensor if that won't cure it  :hmmm:

Can anyone suggest what the 55c4 code is?
spoke to dealer and independent today the dealer (calterdon ) 115 miles away said to put it on a trailer and bring it to them ( no help at all } so that said my nearest dealer now is Aberdeen who were more than helpful over the phone.
But can't confirm they have had any issues with steering angle sensors nor did the independent id spoken to.
really banging my head against the wall now.
lock to lock didn't work either.

Try a live data check via INPA or DIS on the steering angle sensor to see if it is 'out of range'

Update on dsc light, had a check done with inpa and re calibrated steering angle sensor. as soon as I turn the steering  the dsc light comes back on. and stays on. had 4 wheel alignment done today and tried again with no joy. I don't want to spend 400-500 pounds changing the sensor for it to be something else.
Has anyone any experience with faulty voltage regulators and how to check them? as iam getting 14 volts at the battery.
