I'm just getting used to the new to me E70. The stereo on it is quite frankly rubbish when compared to the one in my old A6.

I have the standard stereo, so tweeters in the doors have no drivers, the system as a whole lacks clarity and any sense of rhythm. Without wanting to spend too much, I am initially considering just upgrading speakers prior or messing around with amplification, any suggestions on this front appreciated?

I agree BMW audio systems are poor even the 'professional' systems aren't up to much.

Its the first upgrade ill be making, followed swiftly with a remap!

These guys are up the road from me, I was thinking about going to them to have a listen to their demo car and see if it's all its made out to be.

Shame the Focal speakers require the tweeter grill to be modified. The BAV sound speakers fit exactly, so may be worth considering as an alternative.

Quick question, does the S663A BMW Professional radio setup have an external amp, if yes where is it?

If you do go down and listen please report back, id be very interested to hear what you think. I've spoken to them on the phone but not had a demo. Having worked in the hi-fi trade previously they appear to have the knowledge.

Sound deadening material is key to upgrading the sound quality. Without it the door trims resonate / vibrate and buzz. Simply replacing the drivers yourself will help but the results wont be half as good as a professional fit out...

New joiner here, and new to the world of BMW ( just moved from a TVR Tuscan/ Mazda 5 combo).

I went up to Audiofile last weekend and they were really nice guys. The demo x5 was great, lovely clarity and some real thump to the bass if that's what you want.

I'm deciding between a system 2 and 3 (difference being upgraded woofers)
