Rear carpet

Might seem a daft question but is there a how to/video with instructions for removing the rear carpet? Put my hand in the rear drivers side footwell this morning to find it absolutely soaked.

Hoping it is just a badly replaced/missing vapour barrier as I know the previous owner had to replace at least one window regulator on the rear so will investigate tomorrow but the carpet is so wet it is going to have to come out, hoping it is split into front and rear!

No How-To but you have to get the front two seats out (4 bolts in the rails) and then the rear bench (clips under it, where it meets the carpet, push inwards to release it). Lastly get the lens off each of the rear footwell lights and unbolt 2 plastic bolts for each light.

Lastly unclip the rear side sills (and the plastic shroud further up the door shut).

Bit of work but easliy possible over half a weekend day. Don't forget, don't switch the ignition on when the front seats are out, otherwise the airbag light will come on in the dash and you'll have to use $tealer or scanner to put it out.

Some pics from this How-To might help.

Be very interested to see what causes the damp as I seem to have received the same problem. Car has definitely had some body repair on the drivers side (drivers mirror kerb light has overspray on it) but I don't know any real history.

I do remember a sort of 'film' that fitted inside the door panel on an earlier BM, maybe mine is ripped/faulty/non-existent as well

As Sanj has stated but can't remember if you need to lift the centre console too as the carpet tucks under there to.

As for causes, most likely is door rubber. But could be trailing down the C pillar somewhere. One last thing could be from inside the door if drain holes are blocked?

Well, took the door card off and the vapour barrier had definitely been off at some point in the past and not been glued back, luckily the original adhesive had just been cut and not pulled of so warmed it up and it stuck back nicely.

Have left the door card off so will see how it does with tonights rain, then going to start off with a dehumidifier and see how i get on, still think the carpet needs to come out though so advice is much appreciated, doesn't sound as bad as i thought!

Try having a 9 month old at 53!!  That's 'broke', but still good fun.  He's just beginning to stand so I guess walking isn't far off....
