Rusty Disc and Hub assemblies

Post by MarkyX6 » Fri Jan 17, 2014 3:29 pm

I got my car  last September, and have only been able to put 1150 miles on it so far, but both the front disc carriers, and the rear hubs are totally rusted, where they come painted in a dull grey paint. They are all in plain view through the wheels so look absolutely terrible.

Went back to the dealers today, and they totally agreed that it is wrong, and looks awful, but told me that BMW will not do a thing about it.

They said that I could take the wheels off, and paint them with heat resistant paint if I wanted. To be honest, I feel it is not satisfactory for a car of this value to suffer from what appears to be inadequate protection on visible areas.

I am going to send BMW a snotty gram, but I wondered if anyone had also had any experience of this, and what they managed to do about it.

Thanks

Mark

hi Mark,

I have the same problem with my audi a6, and had it with my disco 4 choose to paint the hubs my self with a cold galvanizing spray they looked great and lasted very well.

Might do my new one when it turns up in march and then at least i know it will look good for a long time

Same on both of mine.

Seems BMW only care about telling quality, not worried about if it actually is or not.
