I have this knocking under driver side of my x5 , it sounds like something has come lose,but I have sent the car to the garage but they can't find anything wrong, it sounds like a item is knocking when going over a little bump, can anyone help please

By bump do you mean a speed hump in the road?

I am not sure of what is positioned under the drivers seat area but I would start with and check the exhaust rubber mountings on the system to see if play or worn and enough movement to knock against the bodywork underneath.

If it's not that then it would be logical to check the suspension front and rear for play or knocks

However I assume the garage would have done this

Thanks for your reply ,yes checked all that , any little hole in road or bump it knocks side to side I have looked under bonnet and try moving any part but nothing all ok, it is doing my head in it sounds like something is worked its way lose and knocking but we can't anything lose,it's mad, I just hoped someone on hear may of had something the same.....

The X5 going back to garage tomorrow to find this knocking again  hopefully !!!!!!!!

I am still puzzled what it could be and came across this. It's not really under drivers seat but logically it's likely to be something that is moving and the front camber bushes seem worth checking

Hi thanks for reply ........it turned out to be anti roll bar link on driver side, which I find hard to believe as I had anti roll bar bushes don't about 3weeks ago .....how come this wasn't spotted then,but fare play to my excellent garage they did it for free,    Happy days

Chances are that it was fine before some ham-fisted mech got in there and disturbed everything whilst dining the bushes!

curious.....did what for free, replace it or perhaps fasten it up again?

They replaced it with a brand new one , so now I'm going to put it back in for other side as that will end up going as well  , they said it's an half hour job
