Runflat Problem

First of all Happy new year guys,

I hope the hangovers have subsided 

I got a runflat warning last night for the passenger rear ,

I connected my digital compressor to take a pressure reading but i'm not getting any air through the valve ,

I checked the operation manually pushing the pin in the valve but still nothing would come out,

Is their a problem with the valve or is this a characteristic of runflats with a puncture ???,

The tyre looks and feels ok but i cant say for sure what pressure its holding,

If the gauge is showing the correct pressure you should have that pressure in the tyre. Maybe check it again at a garage, but usually depressing the pin in the valve should release a bit of air.

Thanks for the reply, problem is the valve is not letting any air in or out (perhaps it's blocked) so i cant get a reading on the display ,its a good gauge and i tested it on the other wheels to make sure it was working correctly,

The tyre has loads of tread , i hope it wont be a change out

Have you tried removing the valve core?

A lot of places will repair a run flat for you with little or no comment depending upon where the sharp went in.

It could of course be that the valve is actually the issue.....are all the other valves OK?  Just thinking if some 'wag' has applied superglue.... >:(  :rant: .....as a poor (and dangerous) prank..

All the other valves were fine Richard,

I had a good look at the valve and it doesn't look like anythings been tampered with ,

I think you have answered my next question though, i dont need to take it to BMW for repair or replacement ? , i take it any tyre fitter will repair or supply a run flat ,

Local tyre place did mine...

It's on a standard rim.  BMW may well say it can't be done, but mine was done 12,000 miles ago and is fine.

The valve cores unscrew. Halfrauds do a tool to do the job.

I had quite a large hole in one of my rear RFT's. Local Tyre Fitter (Tyres Direct) plugged the tyre, and its been perfect now for more than 6 months.

Why throw £300 away buying a new tyre, when you can get it safely repaired for £10.
