I've worked out from OEM that they have different part numbers from the earlier lights, but can anyone tell me / show me how they differ?  Are they a worthwhile upgrade to the pre facelift?

Just the indicator lens I think - orange on the earlier models and clear on the face-lift. Then you have to get the silver coated bulb, another mission.

They are more jewel like in lens composition - I think I replaced my rear indicators with silver coated bulbs

my 2001 sport x5 has clear indicators on the rear, what years should have had the orange indicators?
The lenses on the rear door on mine and really dull and scratched so looking and getting a new set to clean the rear end up a little.

The E53 X5 Sport prefacelift came with clear rear lenses with amber bulbs- my 12/01 build has clear rear indicator lenses.......The facelift E53 has jewel clusters in that the reflective components look sharper.
