Hi,
Does the aux heater go off automatically if the cold outside drops below a certain temperature. Even when there isnt a pre-timer set?
Going on holiday and dont want it to drain the fuel, given the Antarctic weather coming our way (according to the daily mail ))
If yes, is there a way of disabling it?

Re: How to disable auto aux?
It's simply activated by the timer not temperature - unpick the preset timer and you will be fine

Re: How to disable auto aux?
If working properly the aux heater will come ON at 5 degrees C or below when the engine is running only. The timer stuff is only if you've enabled aux parked heating or have a remote control for it.
If in any doubt you could pull the multi plug off the heater under the bonnet.

Hi there to all, ok I have the thermotopz on my 2004 e53.3.0d no remote control to enable disable it remotely as such, and I guess it does come on automatically when temps go under 5.0C, there are 2 plugs on the heater in the engine bay which do i pull of and what are the implications? is the heater purely to heat coolant so as to provide heat in cabin on cold days before startup? i definitely don't need it in that case, average temps out here never go below 0c.....

Re: How to disable auto aux?
It does two jobs. One is to heat the coolant faster on diesel engined vehicles so that they operate more efficiently and secondly to provide warmth into the cabin via the coolant circuit.
It comes on ONLY after engine start when the outside temp is below 5C. It will not operate in any other way unless you have auxiliary heating fitted as a factory option, or have retro-fitted it yourself later.
In the factory fitted aux heating mode it uses sensing circuitry to ensure neither the battery or fuel level are put into a low position. If the battery volts or fuel level falls below the factory set levels then it will either not start, or shut itself down.
