X5 LE MANS EDITION - buy with 7 previous owners?
Hi.. Need some help in making decision if I should buy or not
x5 3.0d Le Mans Edition
Mileage: 104k with full service.
Interior: Black Nappa Leather with silver trim.
Wheels: 20inch black wheels.
Condition of car does not reflect the number of previous owners and this is the only thing that is putting me off.
Appreciate any help.. thanks

Re: X5 LE MANS EDITION - buy with 7 previous owners?
Hhhmmmm looks like its got some nice extras. Full service history etc. i'd be cautious of high number of owners and mileage but apart from that - well worth a look.

Re: X5 LE MANS EDITION - buy with 7 previous owners?
I did notice on the write up it had heated seats but the pic of the inside shows it doesn't have them. Depends if this is one criteria for you when buying the car. The lemans I thought had the 4.8 arch extensions but a lot didnt have heated seats as a cost option, although it does have the 168 style wheels (7 spoke).
I guess the price is ok, but with these cars it's condition and the maintenance that is important if you buy a bad one it will cost you to fix it, even if your good with spanners parts can be pricey.
I would say have a look if its close by go and see it in order to see what it's really like the pictures can lie. Then check every electrical item works windows electric seats /and if heated that also if it has the webasto then check it works, there is a button on the dash clocks and press it and will indicate any faults, ie air susp inactive. And if poss drive it which will tell you a lot about the car.
Then have a look at a few more to see how they look, there is avery good buyers guide on the web site that i would say is essential reading and helped guide me. It give detail about petrol & diesels and the per facelift and facelift
Iif using the car everyday the diesel makes more sense and holds the resale value over the. Petrol ones, but for me I liked the V8 sound and as a weekend car ther was no pint paying 3-4k more for the diesel for me.
Ther are a lot of cars out there, and I walked away from a 4.8 because it was bad and ended up with a facelift 4.4 that I could get at a better price, at trade thru my brother in law, and the right colour in black so i could get. it to the standard I wanted.
But for me the car had to have heated seats, in the end I compromised on the interior colour which In hindsight isnt that important as i sit on the seats not look at them.
I did want one with the pan roof but a local indie i use advised when they go wrong to replace by them approx 2k and also the front air suspension is a weak point as the cars get older again 1-2k fix.
Some have gone over to springs others have fixed them, most cars have air rear and this seems to be more resilient but can go wrong, so it's work checking everything

Re: X5 LE MANS EDITION - buy with 7 previous owners?
High number of previous owners could just be plate changes. Bought the missus a Porsche Boxster 3.2S was put off by the 8 previous owners. After the HPI found 4 of them just private plate changes. Also saw another X5 before I bought mine with 10 of which 7 were plate changes!!!
I would be far more concerned with how well its been maintained and service history. .

Must be something wrong here as a plate change should not change the number of owners. It's registered keepers that change thiings on the V5.

Re: X5 LE MANS EDITION - buy with 7 previous owners?
i would judge the car more on its condition and looks, alot of people like me are easily bored and just cant keep cars very long, one of the e30 cabs i had last year was 26 yrs ols with 23 previous owners but i put it down to people only having car for summer (x5 works the other way for winter) and my car was imaculate, inside outside and mechanically also had genuine 113k with mot history to prove

Re: X5 LE MANS EDITION - buy with 7 previous owners?
Number plate changes do not add to number of owners.
My X has had 8 owners, I also assumed that perhaps the plate changes added to this since it had 6 number plate changes in its lifetime but I was wrong.
I would put it down to people with alot of money getting bored.

Re: X5 LE MANS EDITION - buy with 7 previous owners?
Went out and about saw ones with 1 to 2 owner X5's and none of them any where near as good condition as the Le Mans.
So thanks for all the input I have purchased the X5 and really excited! Got my car booked in for a remap straight away

I'm not a 100% sure, but I think you may be right see link below.
I am sure you can do a search on the vin plate and it gives you the spec of the car and I think that would confirm it.
