Low light sensors

Post by APPLEX5 » Thu Nov 28, 2013 3:21 pm

Hi All,

I have noticed over the past week that my headlights are constantly on during the day.  They usually turn themselves off after a few seconds of driving but this has not happened, is there a sensor that requires replacing?

I drive a 2002 X5 sport D.

Many thanks

Any effect on the auto wipers?

It's a common sensor behing the mirror housing on the windscreen.  Have you any 'clouding' on the purple-ish 'window' on the screen at all?  The window needs to be a clear as possible.  Any misting or clouding of that window can affect both lights and wipers.

This should be the beastie if that is the fault.

Worth a try if the sensor has come adrift from the screen

Hope you don't mind me joining this thread? But I have a similar problem but my issue is when auto headlights selected, the lights come on for a few seconds, then they go off. Leave for a few more mins, and hey presto they come back on.. ?? Confused.
