How often does the fuel filter need to be changed on the diesel x5?
Also once changed does the air need bleeding out or is it ok?

For my 2002 3.0d the service book states inspection II.

The diesel doesn't have an inspection 2, only the petrol, I think the diesel filter is every 60k, like the air filter.

Wow I didn't realise the fuel filter & air filter stayed on for that long!

my air filter looks black as coal every other oil service or 20k miles.
no way would i leave it 60k  and  expect good efficiency, surely some mistake there?  :o

Not according to what I have in front of me.

My service book (for my 2002 3.0d) shows -

"Inspection II - Intake air silencer renew... (&) Renew main fuel filter..." both under the heading of X5 3.0d - the petrol varients show a different schedule.

Furthermore, Stratstone Derby performed an InspII at 46k as stamped in the same service book.

This would suggest that the facelift & pre- facelift have different servicing regimes....
