Hi Guys,
Loving the new car. Gonna service her soon!
Just had a couple questions-
1) Everytime i start the car, heater turns on. Is this normal, or can i turn this setting off using bmw 1.4.0 scanner?
2) My headlight setting is on Auto and they're always on, even during daytime... Is this a easy tweak with the scanner too?
Regards,
Sonny

Re: Couple questions
Make sure the heater is set to 'Auto', the a/c is on (green light on by the snowflake symbol) and the thumb wheel between the upper centre vents is in it's neutral position.
If you are talking about the Webasto, then as soon as the outside temperature is below 5C then it will run. This is normal and is to warm the engine coolant faster.
Auto headlights get fooled by clear skies. Even when mine were set (by the Dealer) to their least sensitive level the lights still came on on any clear day. BMW could not explain the issue except to say it was a known thing with blue skies, but the newer cars do not seen to suffer from it.

Re: Couple questions
Strange. My pre-facelift auto headlights work perfectly.

Re: Couple questions
Dosnt the e53 give you an alert when one of the doors are not shut properly?
I use to get a symbol in my e46

Re: Couple questions
I think you get a 'bong' and the display says 'door open'? The E46 system is much better for telling you that info.

Re: Couple questions
yes, ultra stupid - it says 'door open', no way of telling which one! the E46 shows which door is open.

Re: Couple questions
Exactly.......and the E53 was nearly twice the price and came with the 'High' system, but the 'Low' system is more useful.....go figure!
