Radio problem - lack of sound!

Hi

Can anybody offer any help with an issue with my radio

Screen is fine, changes modes etc., but more times than not it has no sound output?!

Occasionally if I turn unit off and back on again then I get sound back - but not for long.........seems it again when I go over a bump? BUT, that could all be in my head!

I have read about dodgy radio module in the boot needing a repair (£100?) or a replacement (£big money).

Do my symptoms sound like that is the cause and/or another loose connection somewhere?

Any pointers/ideas/experiences appreciated, as it's driving me mad not knowing how to fix.

Can this type of fault be diagnosed by having it plugged in?

Thanks

Mark.

:hi:

Check the wiring in the boot, and also look for any sign of water ingress.  It could just be a dodgy connection - which a 'bump' would certainly annoy..... ;)

Can't see an issue with the wiring (but I'm no auto electrician) - no signs of any water.

Well that's the easiest check done.  As long as all looks clean, the pins are in place and plugs fully home then it could be the module itself as you suspected.

BM54 unit is fine, and as a number of folks here have found, can be fixed for not too much lolly.

How can I check if its the unit? Is this best done by my local independent.

It looks like I can remove it myself if it can be repaired. (there are folks who advertise on e-bay for fixes I think)
