Hi,
Not sure what you need to know as the picture would suggest number 3 is a vacuum pipe, one end fits to the filter housing & the other into a tee piece which looks as though it should connect to a point onto the head.
Which end of yours is not connected ?
I don't fancy looking at mine as there is 12 " of snow outside & not sure if mines the same as it's a facelift.
Phil.

Right then matey i have finally got around to taking a look
whilst doing several other anoying bits
I have traced the pipes and the only one i can see is a small 8mm-10mm pipe that is attached to the oil filter housing and yes mine is open ended aswell.I'm guessing it must be a breather pipe of some sort.It disapears underneath the heat exchanger so i can't see where it goes too
I was looking for ages for a non connected pipe and then saw the little fella under the bigger hose above
I think the number 3 pipe in the link above is a different one coming of the pressure converter and not the one you refer too as that one is connected on mine as in the link
HTH
is this the culprit..... excuse the pics but that sucker isn't very photogenic

Thanks for the reply and time spent having alook.... Not sure if its the same pipe or not, I'm going to have another look in the morning so will feed back my findings.
