bbbrrrrrr it's cold in here!!

Post by x555 » Sun Nov 28, 2010 7:38 pm

Well what can i say it's the coldest weekend in years where we are and what numpty forgot to order heating oil :slaphead:
I actually remembered yesterday and ordered some in the hope that what was left in the tank would last untill the new lott came but alas no about 5pm yesterday the house was chilly and my worst fears were realized (the fear off the missus kicking my ass for forgetting that is  )so not only have we got to put up with a freezing cold house i will now have to bleed the ba@:?rd boiler aswell as it's proberbly pulled all the crap of the bottom of the tank through along with plenty of air.
What a week for this to happen :headbang: no hot water and no warm rads...luckily we have electric showers in the house aswell as mixers so at least we have some warm water to wash.We wrapped the kids up in warm clothes last night and they went to bed in there hoodies like us.So today i have got hold of a couple of little electric heaters just to take the chill off.
It's one of those things that you don't realize how much you depend on untill you haven't got it
I could do with a house heater mod at the mo instead of a parking heater one  i'm typing as fast as i can (which isn't too quick at the best of times)just to keep my hands warm
The warmest place at our pad today was my workshop as i had the stove on flat out this morning.......i'm begining to think i should have put one in the lounge now
Ohh well it looks like we're in for another cold evening and hopefully a begging phone call tommoro will get the oil delivery here earlier than the mid week that they said :headbang:
I have sugested to mrs x555 that we could keep warm another way tonight.... :bonk: but i'm not holding my breath on that one

Just thought i would share my experience with you all in your toasty warm abodes... hopefully i haven't bored you too much with my waffle

I ordered oil a few weeks back, as I have a watchman. I assume you don't have one? They are great, easy diy installation as well.

You know you can put road diesel in the tank as well as it is the identical stuff (but without the colouring).

Pvr- I think I have a watchman thing too............It plugs into the phone socket and landlady says a truck will arive when its low. I haven't wired one of those internet filter thingies in line yet.......Should I do this ?

x555 Sorry to hear things are cold a few fan heaters will sort it if running on 2 it may be a case of heating ther main living area/lounge & mattresses on floor in one warm bedroom.

Cheers guys
Pvr ....i don't have a watchman you'd think i would with the amount of tanks i have installed for customers on new builds that do have them  but i never seem to get around to diy'ing one  ..........perhaps i will now after making this schoolboy error :headbang:
I must admit i didn't know about the diesel being the same as kerosene though

AW8 thanks for the advise ...i'm sure we can survive a couple of cold evenings if we have too it's not really that bad and i always have the heater mod on the x
